Wearing toasty socks...
Bringing out the warm blankets and throws...
Staying indoors and reading more books (and blogs)...
Planting a few bulbs...
Lighting the fire in the evenings...
Enjoying winter blooms such as Lily of the Valley and hellebores...
Making lots of soup (tonight I'm making minestrone) and eating it with fresh, crusty bread...

How beautifully and evocatively you've described autumn (my favourite time of year). My autumn thing - long walks with the dogs in the country lanes around our farm and then home to the warmth of the fire and one of my husband's wonderful winter casseroles!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I'm going to be such a party-pooper Lee, but this time of the year plunges me into a deep black hole - I want it to be Spring already! I had to draw all the blinds last night for the first time & I suddenly realised Winter is on the way. I do enjoy the fire etc., but I just hate putting on 500 layers of clothes every day!

ReplyDeleteI always dread the end of summer and the coming of the darker days. I try to appreciate it, but I just hate the cold and the dark, but you've given me some inspiration.
