Monday morning shop post - Plane Tree Farm

The Melbourne Plane Tree Farm store (and head office) is situated right in the middle of the lovely shopping strip in Hawksburn Village, Malvern Road.  It sells a delicious, high quality range of bed linens, table and home linens, and bath and body products.  As the Plane Tree Farm site explains:

"Our four stores stock a beautiful range of colours in both bed and table linens, together with a luxurious range of cashmere blankets and throws, Eygptian cotton bath towels, Italian and Portuguese woven bath mats, exclusive imported toiletries and other complementary items for the home."

I personally love the Belgian flax bed linen.  I think it would suit my bedroom to a T...
They also have wonderful 500 thread count white bed linen that I imagine would be wonderful to sleep on...

And the littlies aren't left out either as the store stocks the most adorable cot sets...
Following are some other gorgeous products stocked by Plane Tree Farm...
Acca Kappa soaps:
Jacquard teatowels:
Luscious table linen:
Wonderful toile cushions in a range of designs:
And waffle weave bathroom linens:

Flowering quince

Yesterday I picked some flowering quince from my front garden to sit on my dining table alongside a vase of protea and a sweet little cactus wrapped with some paper & string...
It's nice to bring this lovely flower inside and enjoy it while it lasts.

Get the knack

It's raining here in Melbourne and really I should be studying or working, but instead I'm surfing blogs and websites and by and large procrastinating.  Anway, to the point of this post...

Reading yesterday's wonderful post over at Cafe Cartolina, I followed the link to Knack Studios...and now I don't know whether to be happy or sad?!?  Happy - because I found such a beautiful source of inspiration, or sad - because it's located in Greenville in the U.S. and there's no way I can have any of the pretties on their site.  I love absolutely everything on their site, but if I had to choose, I'd want to take these three things home with me...

1. This group of mirrors for my hallway...

2. These canvas cushions with great printed numbers on them. Are they repurposed sails?

3. This chest of drawers.  I just love the colour of the drawers and the very unusual black and white knobs...
It's seriously worth checking out their gorgeous site (and particularly their flickr photos).  I am sure they can make anything look good!  Take the following picture - singularly these plates would look pretty shabby, but stacked like this with a couple of interesting knick knacks and a sign on top and don't they look lovely...

Hanging over my back fence...

This lovely, lush flowering climber is hanging over my back fence and it really makes it feel like Spring is already here (even though we officially have to wait another few days)...
Of course, I had to pick a bunch to put on my desk, even though the flowers only last a day or two when cut.  Still, it brings a little bit of Spring inside and brightens my day...
I hope you have a lovely weekend. See you next week.

Artist: Cressida Campbell

Reading the fabulous interview of textile designer Sally Campbell over at The Design Files, I followed the link to artist Cressida Campbell's site and was reminded yet again of the absolute beauty of her woodblock paintings...
So, I now know what I'd like in my Christmas stocking this year...Cressida Campbell's book of illustrations of her beautiful woodblock paintings.  I'll just have to make sure that I remember to drop a few hints to my husband when it gets a bit closer to Christmas!

Very pale and very interesting

Atlanta Bartlett's newish online homewares boutique, Pale and Interesting, is full of beautiful objects very artfully displayed. These are just a few of my favourites pictures from the site...

Today I'm loving...

I think these printers block letters would make a quirky engagement or wedding present...Or perhaps a christening present for a baby...
And these 'watermelon' bowls created by ceramicist Samantha Robinson make me feel like Summer is just around the corner...

I love how she has captured the shape and exact colours of the watermelon...

Monday shop post - Nest Homewares

I usually go to Nest Homewares in South Melbourne or Brighton to purchase my Aesop hair & skin care products...but while I'm there in the store it's difficult not to want to run your hands over the beautiful cotton bedding by Stewart Russell (of Spacecraft) and the tabletop & home linens by Quince Textiles. This picture of the South Melbourne store in gorgeous Coventry Street shows just some of their amazing wares... And here are some of the lovely linen textiles created by Quince (who have just opened up their very own store in Wattletree Road, Malvern). Their placemats and napkins are divine and I have actually seen them wrrapped on canvases as artwork. Whatever way you use them, they look gorgeous...

As you can see from the following picture, all of the purchases come beautifully wrapped in printed cardboard and string...

Don't these Bholu cushions really liven up the red & white bed linen...

And the lovely Louli Japanese Blossom design in grey would be lovely and calming to have in a bedroom...

I have used some of the Quince creations as artwork in my home...I have a card in the Odah design...

...that I have framed to create a little artwork for my bathroom...

And I bought this tablecloth in the Daisy design...

...and I re-used the printed cardboard covering that it came in as an artwork too...

Here's a closer look at the piece...
Nest Homewares sells lovely handmade, organic products that are beautiful to have, hold and use.

I'd like to spend my weekend here...

The weekend papers, a few cups of jasmine tea, an Archipelago candle burning, David Gray playing in the background....bliss.

Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you all for your wondeful comments during the week - it has been lovely to read them. I really do appreciate you visiting my blog :)

South Yarra stunner

I saw this house advertised for sale in the local newspaper. I just had to go online and take a closer look - mainly because I couldn't believe that someone would have such a large scale model of the Eiffel Tower in their living room. Quite an unusual feature I think, as is the green cowskin rug in the dining area! These pictures don't really do the house justice - it's worth having a look at the Real Estate site while the house is up on the site (just type in 'South Yarra' on the site's search engine). Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely weekend filled with lots of good things.
