Missing my brogues

Many, many moons ago I had a pair of very deep navy blue suede brogues and I simply adored them - I wore them with shorts in summer and skirts and tights in winter. I wore them until the leather soles were just about worn through and my feet were feeling more pavement than shoe sole...and then...I threw them out.

When I see this picture I think...What on earth possessed me to throw them out?!? They were probably looking a bit shabby, but I should have had my brogues resoled and gently pushed them to the back of the wardrobe until they could have their 'time in the sun' once again. I loved those brogues and wish I could have the exact same pair of shoes again.

Have you ever thrown something out only to regret it later?  Or am I the only one that's a bit of a dill??

  1. I find it hard to let go of things in the first place! My house is testimony to it!!!

  2. Unfortunately I should do more throwing out! I'm ashamed to say that I have held onto a pair of broken heels for 10 years because of sentimentality... strange but true! I hope you don't miss your shoes too much! Just consider it an excuse to go hunting for another perfect pair xx

  3. no, throwing out is not my problem, well, I mean I should more! BUT I do reminisce about a navy linen country road casual jacket/shirt - my fav - wore it everywhere, went with everything... just loved it, but oneday, whilst on holiday in surfers paradise, somehow, it got left in a coffee shop (Coolangatta). When I realised my mistake (bout 3hrs later) I frantically rang there, but to no avail, they said it was not there. I think of this many many times! arrgh to lose a fav piece - I know your pain!

I recently received a blog award which requires me to pass on the award, I've chosen your blog for obvious reasons, I'm a big fan!

Check out this post and if you get time, I suggest you do it, because it was actually quite fun! I think you've done one already??? that's ok!

  5. Hi Lee

I also had a pair of gorgeous brogues that were just about my favourite shoes ever, although my husband could never understand why I wanted to wear mens' shoes! Like yours, long gone sadly. One of my favourite things in life is a big throw out - I think I missed my true vocation. I would have been a de-clutter extraordinaire! Hope you have a lovely week. Leigh

  6. Oh, I love that picture, love that outfit. That's how I'd like to dress only I don't dress well anymore!!

I threw out a moth-eaten antique lamp once when I was a student. I loved it, but the old cord was frayed, the shade was, well, moth-eaten, and it looked like crap. I didn't know things could be refurbished then. Oh, how I regret it - such ann interesting lamp it was with an octagonal shade on a skinny brass base and a little brass ball on the end of the cord.

    What was I thinking??
