This is where I'll be spending my morning, reading the Saturday papers and drinking far too many cups of jasmine green tea - something I look forward to all week.
Looking at this pic I've just realised that I have had the blue & white floral cushions for nearly 25 years and I still love them just as much as the day I bought them when I was a penniless uni student. (Some decor decisions have been good, though some not so good!)
Enjoy your weekend.

Garden themed art
Wow, could you imagine having a bench like this in your garden! It's amazing isn't it. It has been lovingly created by artist Pablo Reinoso (the image comes via here).
And how about a shovel (or spade??) to dig in your garden? The filigree steel work by artist Cal Lane is incredible and it's well worth taking a look at the other pieces created by this artist.

Hot in the city
We're into the 3rd day of 40+ degree heat here in Melbourne, and with no end to the heatwave in sight I've got to say that it's quite mentally and physically draining. I look out onto my front garden and it just looks brown and distressed. And with water restrictions there's nothing you can do about it. Even my hardy little agapanthus look a tad stressed. Here's hoping that mother nature takes pity on us and sends us a cool change soon.

Bison ceramics
I have a thing for celadon green vases, jugs and knick knacks - I can't help myself, I see one that takes my fancy I just have to have it (much to my husband and son's dismay). Well imagine my delight when I was in the city browsing during my lunch hour and I came across the cutest little shop carrying nothing but Bison ceramics in a range of beautiful muted colours. I just had to have a vase, in green of course! I think the shop is Bison's only retail outlet in Australia so I feel particularly blessed to have come across it in my home town. I wish I had my camera with me at the time.
The first image is from Bison's own website and shows the wonderful range of ceramics they produce. You can find out more about Bison's ceramics and its creator Brian Tunks right here.
The second image is the little green vase that I bought - it has found a home on my bedroom window sill. I'm looking forward to putting bunch of sweet pea or peonies in this vase.
The start of something big?
I've been inspired to start blogging by my sister and all the fantastic decor blogs that I've come across in blogland. Since I'm a bit of a technophobe, it's taken me a while to pluck up the courage to put my fingers to the keyboard and actually create something. Plus, my photography skills are pretty rudimentary. But ... nothing ventured, nothing gained! So I'll give it my best shot.
What I hope to 'gain' from this blog is a record of the glimpses of style that I come across in my everyday journeys; those things that I find interesting and stylish. I hope that others might find them interesting too.
So, for my very first post, here's a pic of my desk. I work from home and sit at my desk each day so I like my desk to have on it just a few of the things that I enjoy...
- Voluspa candles (my husband gave me the Capri Fig Frangipani candle and it smells and looks divine)
- A postcard of a linocut by Ethel Spowers that was created in 1936
- Flowers (you can never have too many in your home!)
- Buttons - in various shapes, colours and sizes
- Jurlique lavender hand cream (a gift from my wonderful friend Alex)
