Rooms made for winter

These living rooms are tailor-made for Winter - roaring fires, large comfy sofas, plenty of books...even though they're all quite different in terms of style, they draw you in and make you want to linger a while...

(This is my favourite, although it's not actually a living room - it's Liberty in London (I think??))

Today I love...

My white peony tea (by Larsen & Thompson) that my dear husband drove half way across town to buy for me (three boxes full - I'm in heaven!!)...

Miss Pickering's darling hound with flowers tucked behind his ear...

Camera Obscura's 'French Navy' - this great song is stuck on repeat in my brain (sorry, I have no idea how to embed a video).

These tweed shoes - I'd feel oh so English if I had these on my feet...

The dusty pink camellias hanging over a neighbour's fence and now happily sitting in a vase on my desk...

This great metal industrial style cabinet with lots of little drawers to tuck away your treasures...

Monday shop post: Morris Brown

Earlier this year my husband, son and I spent a lovely Saturday afternoon at Healesville - a small town in the Yarra Valley about an hour's drive from Melbourne. We had a great lunch at the Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander Winery, spent a leisurely couple of hours wandering around the Healesville Sanctuary checking out the kangaroos, koalas, echidnas etc, and during a coffee pitstop in the main street I checked out Morris Brown - a very earthy, very gorgeous homewares store.  Indulging in my love of ampersands I bought this very large wooden ampersand that now looks right at home in my living room:

Anyway, seeing the pictures below on the Morris Brown website reminds me that I must venture out to the Yarra Valley again very soon. It's such a lovely part of the world.

As you can see, all the goods at Morris Brown are artfully displayed and it's really lovely to just walk around the shop.

Serenity

An inordinate amount of work is piling up on my desk and in my head. Of course this calls for some escapism in the form of this beautiful house in Kerala, India designed by Khosla Associates for some lucky (and obviously extremely wealthy) UK based person - apparently it's their holiday home! I can only imagine that the moment you walked through the door you'd feel like you're on holidays...

Clocks not clock

Clocks - both functional and beautiful. I think they look amazing when they're grouped in large numbers...here's just a few great examples...

Of course, looking at these images I want to hang more than one clock on my wall!

Monday shop post: Pash Flowers

I've often purchased fresh flowers, soaps and candles from Pash Flowers in Bay Street, Brighton and so it was lovely to see that they've now opened a second store at Bridport Street in Albert Park (just across the road and down a bit from Zacher Antiques that I posted about last week). The flowers are always wonderfully fresh and long lasting and the gift wrapping absolutely gorgeous - well worth popping into whenever I'm in the area.  These pics are from their Bay Street shop and give just a wee hint of what's in store. Oh, and of course, like any florist, it smells divine - something you just can't capture in a blog post!

Beautiful, bright textiles

It's been cold, dark, rainy and very wintery here in Melbourne today. So I decided that I needed some gorgeous, vibrant textile inspiration to brighten up my Winter and remind me that Spring will be upon us before we know it...
